WOMEN'S HISTORY: Black Women Running for Public Office
Ft. Ardelia Holmes
Black History isn't just celebrated for one month, it's made every day, just like women's history. I'm Ardelia Holmes, and I'm running for public office in Ohio on a liberal platform dedicated to supporting everyone, no matter who they are. I'm proud to be making history not only as a Black woman but also as one of the few congressional candidates in Ohio choosing not to accept AIPAC money. Let's have a conversation with Ardelia!
Before running for Congress, Ardelia confronted the harsh realities that many politicians only talk about: unequal educational outcomes, rising taxes coupled with stagnant growth, government programs that manage struggle rather than eliminate it, and policies created far from the communities they impact. Ardelia didn’t just observe these issues, she challenged them. As a parent, educator, and systems strategist, she has spent years advocating for families, questioning decisions that didn’t serve their needs, and sparking conversations others avoided. She has built businesses, pursued graduate studies in organizational leadership, and plans to earn a Juris Doctorate to bring legal influence into spaces where it has been lacking. Her work has earned recognition from city and state leaders not because she followed the status quo, but because she delivered results.
